Boosting military assistance: Sergiy Boyev addresses the defence ministers of the E5 Group countries

The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, joined the meeting of the E5 Group, consisting of France, Poland, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

In his speech to the participants, he informed them that, as a result of negotiations between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia, the restrictions on US security assistance were lifted, and intelligence sharing was resumed. Ukraine has also agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, on the condition that russia also complies with it.

At the same time, Sergiy Boyev noted that although Ukraine seeks peace, the war continues, and the intensity of hostilities remains very high, indicating russia's intention to persist in its aggression. Thus, securing stronger positions on the battlefield w will enhance Ukraine's negotiation stance. This also necessitates enhanced support from European countries.

“As long as the war persists, including missile and drone attacks on civilian cities, we must protect the people and ensure the military has everything they need,” emphasized Sergiy Boyev.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that Ukraine's ongoing needs include air defense and missile defense systems, interceptor missiles, artillery shells, missiles for MLRS, and heavy armored vehicles. He called on the defence ministers of the E5 Group to use their arsenals to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses.

Sergiy Boyev also highlighted the need to increase funding for security assistance to Ukraine and to strengthen Europe's defense capabilities. According to him, to establish and sustain lasting peace, Europe must ramp up the production of air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition.

“Security never comes without a cost. Europe needs to expand production in sectors vital to the continent's defense. Ukraine has experience in rapidly scaling its defense industry and stands ready to cooperate,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

For their part, the Defence Ministers of France, Poland, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom reaffirmed their continued support for Ukraine.
