A survey regarding military ombudsman has been launched in Army+
Through the Army+ app, service members will be able to voice their opinions on the establishment of a military ombudsman institution. A new survey was announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The ombudsman will be responsible for protecting the rights of Ukrainian service members, reservists, and their families. In an anonymous survey through Army+, service members can express their views on this initiative and identify the primary needs of the military regarding the protection of their rights and social guarantees. Participants can contribute their ideas on the duties and processes associated with the ombudsman role.
“In partnership with the military command, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is launching a new institution of the military ombudsman. It is essential for the individual who will take on this role to have the full trust of the military, their families, and the broader public. To ensure that the ombudsman's work is as effective as possible and fully serves the interests of service members, we will gather feedback from the military through Army+,” emphasized Ukraine’s Defence Minister, Rustem Umerov.
The new survey consists of 12 questions. Service members will be able to outline the key functions they expect from the military ombudsman and share examples of rights violations they have experienced during their service.
“Since the very beginning, Army+ surveys have been serving the interests of service members. The results of each survey serve as the foundation for new strategies or specific decisions within our Armed Forces. I am sincerely grateful to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who entrusted the Army+ app with gathering opinions on such an important issue as protecting the rights of service members,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.
The survey started on December 30 and will run for two weeks. Based on the survey results, the newly established military ombudsman institution will shape its activities.
