Within two months of DOT-Chain Defence’s launch, the military ordered nearly 17,000 UAVs worth about UAH 600 million
In the two months since the launch of DOT-Chain Defence, the military ordered nearly 17,000 UAVs worth almost UAH 600 million.
“The Ministry of Defence has launched the DOT-Chain Defence pilot project, a weapons marketplace for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Through this platform, military units can independently order what they actually require at the front, while the Defence Procurement Agency manages all administrative procedures and payments. Together, this allowed the delivery time of drones to the front line to be shortened from months to just a few days,” said Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
Currently, 12 combat brigades in key sectors, including Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Kherson, are participating in the pilot project.
Since the launch of the marketplace:
- The military has ordered nearly 17,000 UAVs worth almost UAH 600 million.
- The military received nearly 13,000 UAVs worth UAH 443 million. The average delivery time is 10 days, with the fastest being 5 days.
- Under the ‘Army of Drones Bonus’ program, 23,800 assets have been delivered.
“Thanks to DOT-Chain Defence, for the first time, military units can choose weapons on their own instead of waiting for centralized decisions. Only three electronic signatures are needed before the drone is on its way. At the same time, it serves as direct feedback from the front line for weapon manufacturers, allowing them to adjust their products promptly,” noted Denys Shmyhal.
Going forward, the marketplace will be scaled across the entire Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the list of manufacturers and available strike capabilities will be expanded. Additionally, this year, the plan is to launch a Drone Configurator, enabling UAVs to be customized to meet specific combat tasks.
“Our objective is to achieve 70 percent UAV supply via DOT-Chain Defence over the next six months,” concluded the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
