Ukraine to provide partner countries’ museums with destroyed russian military equipment
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the establishment of a mechanism for transferring selected items of destroyed russian military equipment to museums in foreign countries.
This refers to military equipment captured or obtained while repelling and deterring russia’s armed aggression. The equipment will be transferred free of charge for use as museum objects or in exhibitions.
The decision was adopted at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
Captured military equipment as evidence of russia’s aggression against Ukraine
Transferring destroyed items of captured military equipment to foreign museums will contribute to international efforts to document the consequences of russian aggression against Ukraine.
In particular, museums in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, and the Netherlands will receive captured T-72 tanks for exhibition use. The enemy equipment is no longer combat-capable, contains no explosive components, and can be displayed to museum visitors abroad.
Such exhibitions abroad will help communicate objective information about Ukraine’s ongoing struggle for independence and present the international community with tangible evidence of the war.
Strengthening communication and consolidating partner support
In addition, the project will contribute to the development of cultural diplomacy and strengthen cooperation with foreign museums.
Together with other government agencies, the Ministry of Defence is stepping up efforts to raise awareness of russia’s armed aggression, maintain international support for Ukraine, and consolidate the efforts of partner countries to restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity and achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.
Earlier, Ukraine launched TrophyLab, a government portal that gives manufacturers, engineers, researchers, laboratories, and international partners access to captured military equipment to study russian weaponry.
