Ukraine briefed Norway on its priority needs for military assistance

Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Valerii Churkin held a working meeting with Eivind Vad Petersson, State Secretary to the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting focused on the political support and military assistance to Ukraine from partners.
Valerii Churkin briefed the Norwegian delegation on the situation at the front lines, the consequences of air attacks on rear-area settlements, and current intelligence on the development of russia’s defense industry. The Deputy Minister stressed that while Ukraine seeks a just peace, the aggressor continues to prepare for prolonged war.
“russia is scaling up the production of missiles, strike UAVs, and other weapons used against our civilian population and critical infrastructure. The enemy continues its terror against Ukrainians. The massive bombardment of our cities shows that Russia understands only the language of force,” emphasized Valerii Churkin.
He noted that Ukraine urgently needs additional air and missile defense systems, the necessary missiles to operate them, and support for domestic production to enhance its national defense capabilities.
The Deputy Minister of Defence thanked the government and people of Norway for their support and military assistance, which is expected to reach nearly $7 billion in 2025.
Eivind Vad Petersson assured the Ukrainian side of Norway’s steadfast support and emphasized that his country understands the scale of the threats, as Norway also shares a border with the aggressor.
