Within the framework of the One Hundred Year Partnership, Ukraine and the United Kingdom have already achieved tangible results in defence innovation and industrial cooperation. In particular, one Ukrainian defence company localised its operations in the United Kingdom over the course of a year, integrating into the British industrial ecosystem. At the same time, British technology partners are rolling out manufacturing and engineering projects in Ukraine, including in the unmanned systems domain.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Anna Gvozdiar, at the UKUkraine One Hundred Year Partnership event, where she moderated the panel discussion titled “A Century of Defence Innovation and Industrial Cooperation.” The discussion brought together representatives of government procurement bodies and defence innovation companies from both countries.

“We are already moving beyond intentions to joint projects, manufacturing, and the mutual strengthening of industrial capabilities. We thank the British side for its cooperation and support, as well as for its willingness to work together on practical solutions. The next steps include scaling up joint projects, advancing engineering and R&D cooperation, and developing new formats of practical interaction, including joint technical hackathons and exchanges of expertise,” said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Anna Gvozdiar.

At the event, she also expressed gratitude to the Government of the United Kingdom for the systematic training of Ukrainian service members, ranging from basic recruit training to specialised courses for those with combat experience. She noted that the professionalism of British instructors and a consistent approach to training have substantially strengthened the capabilities of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

The Deputy Minister of Defence stressed that combining personnel training, joint innovation, and industrial cooperation is a key factor in strengthening Ukraine’s defence capability and advancing a long-term strategic partnership with the United Kingdom.
