Ukraine and Norway have outlined key areas of cooperation for 2025

During a working visit to Brussels, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Rustem Umerov, met with Norway’s Minister of Defence, Tore Onshuus Sandvik.

Rustem Umerov thanked the Norwegian government for its initiative and the support of the Norwegian people, particularly the decision to allocate an additional €5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine in 2025, raising the total aid for the year to €7 billion. The parties analyzed the most effective ways to allocate these funds to strengthen the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

Equipping the units has been identified as one of the key areas. Norway will assist in equipping Ukrainian brigades with modern strike capabilities, armored vehicles, and other technological solutions, providing critical support in light of current threats.

A second priority is ammunition supply. The Ministers discussed various mechanisms for delivering high-quality rounds to the front. As an active participant in the 'Czech Initiative,' Norway is prepared to allocate significant funds to procure ammunition for the Ukrainian army.

Additionally, the meeting focused on defense-industrial collaboration, with plans to launch new joint projects with Norwegian companies, particularly in air defense and maritime solutions.

“We value every contribution to our defense capabilities. Norway has consistently increased its military assistance, and we are sincerely grateful for it,” Rustem Umerov said.
