Ukraine and Norway discussed the development of cooperation in the defense industry

Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko held talks in Kyiv with Marte Gerhardsen, State Secretary at Norway’s Ministry of Defence.
During the meeting, Anatolii Klochko thanked Norway for allocating USD 7.8 billion in aid to Ukraine in 2025. He highlighted the importance of directing these funds towards Ukraine’s most critical needs in light of ongoing security challenges.
Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defence proposed expanding the range of joint defense-industry projects, exploring the localization of production in Ukraine, and expediting deliveries from abroad.
He emphasized Ukraine’s goal to scale up production of artillery ammunition and related components, missile engines, and the development of other defense technologies.
“Today, rapidity in both production and logistics is essential. We stand ready to cooperate in expediting these processes,” said Anatolii Klochko.
Marte Gerhardsen expressed admiration for Ukraine’s defense innovation developments and stated that Norway is prepared to scale up successful joint defense-industry projects.
“Ukrainian and Norwegian companies already have experience collaborating; now we must deepen this cooperation. Norway is also interested in strengthening its defense capabilities,” noted the State Secretary of Norway’s Ministry of Defence.
The Ukrainian side also provided the Norwegian delegation with an overview of the security situation and the evolving trends in russia’s defense industry. Anatolii Klochko emphasized that russian missiles include a significant number of Western components.
“russia procures components for its missiles through third countries. This must be curtailed with additional sanctions, as it gives the enemy an advantage,” he stated.
The Deputy Minister also drew attention to russia’s cooperation with North Korea, Iran, and China, which presents an additional challenge in countering the aggressor.
