Ukraine and Norway discuss strengthening air defence, countering Shahed drones and preparations for the Drone Deal

Countering russian threats posed by jet-powered Shahed drones and ballistic missiles
Evgeniy Khmara briefed the Norwegian side on Ukraine’s key priorities and needs.
Particular attention was given to countering jet-powered Shahed drones, which pose a serious challenge to Ukraine’s air defence.
Ukraine is developing countermeasures, but we need support from our partners to rapidly scale up these solutions. Support with interceptor missiles against russian ballistic missiles also remains critical.
The meeting also covered the development of Ukraine’s asymmetric solutions.
Asymmetric actions against the russian war machine
Evgeniy Khmara emphasised that in recent days Ukraine has carried out significant strikes that reduce russia’s ability to produce and launch missiles against Ukraine.
According to Evgeniy Khmara, such measures are an important part of systematic pressure on the russian war machine.
Drone Deal between Ukraine and Norway
The two sides discussed developing a mutually beneficial defence partnership between Ukraine and Norway. The focus is on areas of cooperation that can strengthen both countries, particularly in drones, technologies and other Ukrainian solutions battle-tested in modern warfare.
Ukraine and Norway are preparing the Drone Deal with a view to signing it.
We are also ready to share other Ukrainian solutions. They can strengthen not only Ukraine but also our partners.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine thanked Norway for its valuable support, which is critical to Ukraine.
