Ukraine and New Zealand discussed security challenges and military cooperation

On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov held talks with New Zealand’s Defence Minister Judith Collins. During the talks, the parties addressed global security challenges and explored ways to enhance defense cooperation.
The participants emphasized that russian aggression has reshaped the security environment not only in Europe but also in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Authoritarian regimes are growing more confident, and the free world must clearly demonstrate that new aggressions are unacceptable,” Rustem Umerov emphasized.
Ukraine's Defence Minister thanked New Zealand for supporting Ukraine and contributing to the Drone Coalition. The parties also discussed New Zealand's investment potential in developing Ukraine's defense industry through mechanisms similar to the ‘Danish model.’
Special attention was given to the prospects of expanding defense cooperation, including consultations, experience exchange, and training initiatives. Rustem Umerov highlighted that Ukraine, for its part, is prepared to share its technological capabilities and expertise in contemporary warfare.
