Ukraine and NATO strengthen cooperation in defense procurement

The second coordination seminar on the implementation of the Ukraine–NATO Strategic Defence Procurement Review (SDPR) was held in Kyiv. The event marked an important step toward strengthening coordination efforts in Ukraine’s defense procurement system.

The seminar was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Ukrainian government institutions, NATO Headquarters, the NATO Representation to Ukraine, and allied countries. The goal of these events is to ensure the effective implementation of the SDPR recommendations for building a transparent and efficient defense procurement system.

“This seminar clearly demonstrates that we are not merely drafting strategies on paper, but are steadily putting them into action. Our key goal remains unchanged: to provide the Defence Forces with state-of-the-art equipment through transparent and highly efficient procurement mechanisms,” emphasized Oleksandr Osadchyi, Acting Director of the Ministry of Defence’s Procurement Department.

The coordination seminars have become a regular platform for practical cooperation with NATO and for exchanging experience among all key Ukrainian stakeholders. They help improve coordination, identify critical gaps, and clearly allocate responsibilities in the procurement reform process.
