Ukraine and NATO outline JATEC priorities for 2026

The Senior Advisory Board (SAB) of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC) held its third meeting and outlined priority areas for work in 2026.
These include: the development of unmanned systems and innovation, digitalisation and management, medicine and military education, national resistance and comprehensive defence, transformation, and interoperability.
“JATEC is becoming a strategic bridge between Ukraine and NATO. Our task is not only to adapt to the Alliance, but also to contribute unique, battle-tested solutions to the common security architecture. Ukraine is no longer a consumer of security, but its co-author,” emphasized First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Sergiy Boyev.
The members of the Senior Advisory Board discussed all necessary aspects to ensure JATEC’s proper functioning.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Technical Arrangement between the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and NATO’s Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation. This document confirms Ukraine’s special status within NATO’s command structure.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the NATO International Staff, the Polish Armed Forces, the NATO International Military Staff, NATO Allied Command Transformation, and other Alliance structures.
JATEC’s Senior Advisory Board previously met in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in February 2025 and in Kyiv in April.
