Ukraine and NATO agree on the steps for the final stage of establishing the JATEC Joint Centre
A delegation from the Ministry of Defence, headed by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Anatolii Klochko, participated in a meeting to discuss the deployment of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC) in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
The establishment of JATEC follows decisions made during the NATO Summit in Washington, D.C. This will mark the first joint institution established between Ukraine and NATO.
“The Center will support Ukraine’s integration into NATO’s structures, promote the exchange of expertise between the parties, and develop solutions to strengthen the defence capabilities of both Ukraine and NATO,” said Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko.
Participants in the meeting discussed the key steps needed to establish the Center and confirmed plans to begin its operations in early 2025.
These steps involve agreeing on the necessary legal procedures, including ensuring Ukraine’s involvement in the management and decision-making processes within the Center.
The event was attended by NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Thomas Goffus, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Admiral Pierre Vandier, NATO Communications and Information Agency General Manager, Ludwig Dekamps, and NATO Senior Representative to Ukraine, Patrick Turner.
The participants also discussed developing an information and communications system aimed at enabling secure data exchange and collaboration between Ukraine and NATO. Ukraine will be the first partner country with which NATO develops such a secure system.
The parties agreed on a list of priority projects the Center will begin working on.
