Ukraine and Luxembourg are enhancing cooperation in digital transformation and the defense industry

In Kyiv, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, held a meeting with the Minister of Defence of Luxembourg, Yuriko Backes. The parties discussed the digital transformation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, enhancing cooperation within the IT Coalition, and the prospects for industrial collaboration.

“Luxembourg is a reliable ally of Ukraine and a leader in the IT sector. I am grateful for its comprehensive support, particularly for its role as a co-leader in the IT coalition,” Rustem Umerov emphasized.

The parties thoroughly reviewed the digital transformation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the implementation of modern solutions for the command and control of troops, resource management, and the provision of services to the military. Rustem Umerov emphasized that these changes were made possible through financial aid, technological support, and equipment provided by international partners.

Particular attention was given to cooperation within the Drone Coalition, which Luxembourg has recently joined. Yuriko Backes reiterated Luxembourg's commitment to increasing support for Ukraine in this regard.

The discussions also included a detailed analysis of the regional security situation. russia continues to ramp up weapons production and mobilize new forces, indicating its refusal to contribute to achieving a just peace.

The parties also explored opportunities for industrial cooperation, focusing on air defense and deep strike capabilities. Ukraine's Minister of Defence proposed that Luxembourg join in supporting the Ukrainian defense industry under the ‘Danish model’ of financing.
