Ukraine and Germany discuss advancing technological capabilities on the battlefield

First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksii Vyskub held a meeting with Lieutenant General Dr Christian Freuding, Chief of the German Army, and Brigadier General Joachim Kaschke, Head of the Situation Centre ‘Ukraine’ at Germany’s Federal Ministry of Defence.
The parties discussed the changing technological landscape on the battlefield, the development of the Defence Forces of Ukraine's capabilities, support for drone-assault units, and areas for deepening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Germany.
Technological changes on the battlefield
The Ukrainian side briefed its counterparts on the key technological changes affecting the conduct of combat operations, particularly the development of unmanned systems capabilities within the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian side also stressed that the experience of modern warfare demonstrates that drones complement rather than replace conventional fire support systems. Indirect fire capabilities remain an essential component of combat capability.
Support for drone-assault units
Oleksii Vyskub thanked Germany for its support for Ukraine's drone-assault units.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the battlefield performance of these regiments and opportunities for further exchanges of experience in this area.
Strategic partnership with Germany
Ukraine highly values its strategic partnership with Germany and stands ready to deepen cooperation in areas that strengthen both countries.

The parties discussed opportunities for exchanging experience through formats such as TrophyLab, the unified centre for the analysis of captured russian military equipment, as well as access to Ukrainian digital solutions, including the DELTA ecosystem.
Ukraine's wartime experience and extensive battlefield data will contribute to the further development of allied capabilities.
Another area of cooperation is the cognitive domain. Ukraine and Germany are interested in cooperating on instruments of influence directed at russia that can multiply the effects of battlefield operations.
