Transparent algorithms and digitalization: Ministry of Defence launches new Housing Support Concept for Service Members
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is overhauling its approach to housing support for service members and their families.
The MoD’s Main Directorate of Capital Investments has developed a draft Concept of the Dedicated National Program for Providing Housing to Military Personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Those Discharged from Military Service.
The document has undergone internal approval and submitted to central executive authorities for review. Public consultations are currently underway.
“We aim to establish a transparent and effective system that will consider the needs of various categories of military personnel, with a primary focus on combatants, families of the fallen, seriously wounded, and those discharged from military service,” said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
Concurrently, preparations for digitalizing the military housing registry are nearing completion. This will enhance procedural transparency, streamline operations, and strengthen oversight of housing inventory utilization.
“As part of this effort, an algorithm for exclusion of service-provided housing from the relevant inventory of the Ministry of Defence has also been developed and approved. This measure will enable thousands of military families currently residing in service-provided housing the right to permanent residence in those accommodations,” the Deputy Minister announced.
