The second group of volunteers from the Ukrainian Legion has signed contracts and commenced training in Poland
Today, at the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin, the second group of Ukrainian citizens residing abroad signed contracts to join military service in the ranks of the Ukrainian Legion.
Lieutenant Colonel Petro Horkusha, a representative of the unit's command, reported that this time, more recruits signed contracts than the previous occasion: “Today, we have enlisted more recruits than in November. This reflects the increasing trust of our citizens in this initiative. Motivated individuals are joining us, fully aware of their choice.”
He also noted that, for the first time, women have joined the Ukrainian Legion, selecting specialties in medicine and communications.
Most of the new volunteers reside in Poland, but there are also Ukrainian citizens from Denmark, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, and other European countries. According to Horkusha, the Ukrainian Legion Recruiting Center has already received around 1,300 applications for military service.
The first group of Ukrainian Legion service members successfully completed one of the training stages and has been deployed to a temporary base in Ukraine. Subsequently, they will continue training in military specialties at NATO member state training centers or training facilities in Ukraine.
Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin, Oleh Kuts, noted during the event: “Offering our volunteers the opportunity to undergo training at modern NATO-standard centers is a vital contribution to our shared victory. I am sincerely thankful to everyone who helps advance this significant mission, especially to our Polish friends, who have been providing us with invaluable assistance since the first days of the full-scale invasion. Together, we are stronger.”
After signing the contracts, the group of volunteers proceeded to one of the training centers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland to begin their basic military training. The training will be conducted under the guidance of Polish instructors and will involve the use of modern NATO weapons.
The Ukrainian Legion Recruitment Center in Lublin remains open to accepting applications from Ukrainian citizens residing abroad. Applications can be submitted via the official website of the Ukrainian Legion https://legion.army.gov.ua/ or at Ukrainian consulates and embassies across Europe.
