The United States and NATO launch a new mechanism to support Ukraine

The United States and NATO are launching a new mechanism to support Ukraine through the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). The objective of the mechanism is to ensure the rapid delivery of systems and weaponry to Ukraine – that can be sourced primarily and in large volumes from the United States – to strengthen Ukraine’s positions and create the conditions for achieving a just and lasting peace.
This initiative is being implemented within the framework of agreements between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of the United States Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Through this new mechanism, Allied and partner nations can fund the delivery of U.S. weapons and technologies via voluntary contributions.
The PURL mechanism consists of a list of equipment and munitions based on Ukraine’s requests and validated by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR). New packages will be announced on a regular basis.
NATO will coordinate the delivery of these packages, including through the NATO Security Assistance and Training to Ukraine - NSATU).
The Netherlands has generously funded the first Package, worth €500m, and we expect the weapons to arrive in the very near future. We expect further significant announcements to follow.
