The Ministry of Defence prevented more than 209 tons of substandard foodstuff from being delivered to the Armed Forces

In July 2024, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine prevented the delivery of 209.3 tons of low-quality and dangerous foodstuffs intended for the Ukrainian military's food supply.

The majority of these foodstuffs (more than 182 tons) were not allowed to be used to feed military personnel even before the phase of delivery to military units. In addition, during direct inspections in military units, more than 27 tons of substandard foodstuffs were not allowed to be used to feed military personnel.

“Every penny of taxpayers' money that is spent, including on food for the Armed Forces, should be used to the maximum benefit. That is why the Ministry of Defence pays for services only after the products to be delivered to military units have passed the appropriate quality and documentation checks required by financial control,” said Deputy Minister of Defence Yuriy Dzhygyr.

Specialists of the Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine regularly check the quality and safety of the foodstuff centralizedly supplied to the Armed Forces.

To recap, in June 2024, the Ministry of Defence inspectors prevented nearly 340 tons of substandard and dangerous foodstuff from being delivered to the Armed Forces.
