The Ministry of Defence expedites the procurement process, with 82% of new electronic warfare systems and 41% of UAVs securing contracts in record time

Suppliers of nearly 82% of electronic warfare (EW) systems codified in 2024 and 41% of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) types received their first contracts from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence in less than three months following codification.

This includes types of electronic warfare such as UAV countermeasure systems, tactical (trench) electronic warfare systems, and integrated hardware and software systems for UAV countermeasures, as well as the following types of UAVs: reconnaissance aircraft, flying-wing drones, deepstrike drones, fixed-wing kamikaze drones, FPV kamikaze drones, and strike bombers.

“The Ministry of Defence's policy focuses on reducing the time between a product's codification and procurement. This is crucial for maintaining an advantage on the battlefield. Over 27% of electronic warfare systems were contracted less than one month after codification. This highlights the effective collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and manufacturers,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Dmytro Klimenkov.

“This year, the Ministry of Defence has allocated over UAH 87 billion to procure various types of UAVs, including over UAH 59 billion for deepstrike long-range drones. This amount is expected to increase by the end of the year,” said Glib Kanevskyi, Director of the Procurement Policy Department at the Ministry of Defence.
