The Ministry of Defence and the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy sign Memorandum of Cooperation
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
Under this initiative, at least 40 military psychology officers and clinical psychologists will undergo training in the evidence-based CETAPSS (Common Elements Treatment Approach – Psychosocial Support) methodology. This approach, implemented by the Mental Health Center at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, is grounded in international standards and enables the provision of more effective support to military personnel amid the ongoing war.
The uniqueness of this evidence-based approach lies in its ability to stabilize an individual's condition and alleviate symptoms within a relatively short time. It also equips individuals with skills they can independently apply for self-support in the future.
“Our military personnel endure immense psychological stress daily, and we must do everything possible to provide them with high-quality care. This training will significantly enhance the system of psychological support and recovery for our defenders,” stated the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
In addition to training, the Memorandum also facilitates research on the effectiveness of psychological recovery for military personnel in inpatient rehabilitation centers.
