The ‘Drone Line’ project has been launched in the Defence Forces of Ukraine to develop UAV-operating units

A large-scale project, ‘Drone Line,’ has been launched within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, initiated by the President of Ukraine. The aim is to build the most effective unmanned systems units and scale their combat experience across the Defense Forces.
The project involves establishing a network of specialized units to be provided with modern equipment, necessary resources, and specialists. Both service members and civilian specialists are encouraged to participate.
“The ‘Drone Line’ project aims to scale the most efficient solutions in the military. This includes the creation of a 10-15 km 'kill zone,' offering air support and cover to the infantry, that makes the enemy's advance unattainable without losses,” emphasized Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.
The project has already received an additional UAH 4.6 billion in funding from the Ministry of Defence, which will be allocated directly to the units to procure UAVs, electronic warfare systems, vehicles, and all necessary equipment to carry out combat tasks.
The leading UAV-operating units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in the initiative include RAROG, K-2, PHOENIX, ACHILLES, and MADYAR'S BIRDS. Applications for participation can be submitted on the droneline.army.gov.ua website or via the hotline 0 800 301 314.
Joining is also possible through the Diia or Army+ apps. After completing the application form, candidates undergo selection through an interview and testing. Military personnel have the option to change their duty station, while civilians can receive support throughout all stages, from the enlistment office to their place of service.
Each ‘Drone Line’ recruit will undergo specialized Basic General Military Training (BGMT), which includes tactical training, UAV operation training, and mastering methods for intercepting enemy drones.
The project is open to UAV operators, engineers, IT specialists, medical personnel, clerks, and other professionals ready to work with cutting-edge technologies and digital tools.
