The Demining Coalition has agreed on a Roadmap for Assistance to Ukraine over the next 9 years

The members of the Demining Coalition discussed Ukraine's needs for equipment and weapons and agreed on a Roadmap for Assistance from 2025 to 2034.

This was discussed at the ninth meeting of the Coalition, which Lithuania and Iceland chaired. Ukraine was represented by Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, Major General Dmytro Hereha, Commander of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Colonel Maksym Komisarov, Deputy Head of the Administration of the State Special Transport Service. In total, the event brought together representatives from 14 countries, as well as officials from NATO's Security Assistance and Training Mission for Ukraine (NSATU) and the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U).

Representatives of Lithuania and Iceland confirmed their continued support for Ukraine and emphasized the further coordination of partners' efforts within the Coalition.

Ruslan Berehulia, Dmytro Hereha, and Maksym Komisarov thanked international partners for their systematic and unwavering support in addressing the consequences of the war.

“The contamination of Ukraine's land with unexploded ordnance and explosive remnants of war is one of the greatest threats to civilians. Decisive action and additional efforts are needed to clear the territories, protect people, and ensure stability in the post-conflict period,” said Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, who also called on countries that are not yet members of the Coalition to join the Demining Coalition.

He also briefed on the current and future procurement status per the specified needs. The discussion included clarifications of the Coalition members' proposals for contributions to the training and equipping of demining units, as well as a review of the list of critical material and logistical needs.

Major General Dmytro Hereha underscored the importance of international assistance: “Thanks to the assistance from our foreign partners, we are enhancing the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to effectively carry out combat operations and counter russia's armed aggression. Through our joint efforts, we bring our victory closer and, ultimately, a peaceful and secure future for Ukraine.”

In a review of 2024, the Coalition delivered 40 M113 armored personnel carriers, over 200 counter-drone systems, 118 off-road vehicles, and 240 mine detectors to the engineering units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for combat demining operations.
