The Armed Forces of Ukraine begin validation of food supply management software

The Ukrainian military has begun validating the Dedicated Food Service Operations Management Software (DFSOMS). The software is being tested in real-world conditions to prepare it for large-scale use.

About the software

The Dedicated Food Service Operations Management Software (DFSOMS) automates food supply operations across military units.

Its key functions include:

  • inventory accounting of food products within military units;
  • generation of supply requests;
  • menu planning;
  • automated reporting on food usage.

Who will use the software?

The Dedicated Food Service Operations Management Software (DFSOMS) will be used by food supply officers. These service members ensure timely, quality, and standards-compliant feeding of military unit personnel.

They are responsible for meal planning, food inventory management, supply requests, and usage reporting. Their performance directly impacts a military unit’s daily operational readiness.

Why validation is needed?

The purpose of validation is to ensure that the software functions correctly under real-world conditions, meets the needs of the food service, and fully covers the defined processes—from inventory accounting to reporting.

This will confirm that the solution is ready for full-scale use across the military.

Who developed and is implementing the software?

The DFSOMS was developed by service members from the Center for Scaling Technological Solutions.

The Logistics Forces Command acts as the customer and responsible authority, while the Ministry of Defence’s Center provides overall coordination for the Transformation of Defence Resource Management Processes.

Comments from the Ministry of Defence and the Logistics Forces Command

“This is the first time that the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have developed a dedicated validation process for computer software, which will be tested in line with international standards. The DFSOMS is compatible with the DOT-Chain and logistics support management systems. This is an important component of the military’s unified digital logistics ecosystem,” emphasized Oksana Ferchuk, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization.

“For us, it is essential to have a tool that operates effectively at the unit level. Validation allows us to test the software in real-world conditions at all stages, refine processes, and only then scale the solution. Ultimately, the DFSOMS is expected to form the basis of a modern, well-managed, and efficient military food supply system,” noted Hennadii Bizhan, Head of the Rear Services of the Command of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Next steps

Following the completion of validation, the DFSOMS will be integrated into the military’s digital ecosystem and implemented across all military units. This validation model will subsequently be applied to other software products and information systems.

Preparing the DFSOMS for implementation represents another milestone in the digital transformation of military logistics, improving the speed, accuracy, and transparency of supplies to the Ukrainian military.
