Since the beginning of the year, the rights of over 156 service members and their families have been restored
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine continues its systematic efforts to protect service members' rights. Since the beginning of 2025, with the support of the Central Department for the Protection of Service Members' Rights, 156 issues concerning defenders and their families have been resolved following the processing of their appeals and requests.
“We are committed to doing everything we can to protect the rights and guarantees of every one of our defenders. We are not just responding to appeals; we are also implementing systemic changes to enhance the effectiveness of protection mechanisms,” said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
The most common violations reported by military personnel and their families include non-payment of service and additional remunerations, failure to change their duty station, failure to provide documents regarding missing service members, non-payment of one-time assistance in the event of death or injury, and failure to refer to a military medical commission.
“The number of requests is steadily increasing, reflecting a growing trust in our Department. “We are focused on uncovering systemic violations and improving legislation to avoid their repetition,” said Colonel Petro Fivkin, Head of the Central Department for the Protection of Service Members' Rights.
