Serhii Melnyk: Starting next year, the financial allowances for cadets of military higher education institutions will be increased
The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine made this statement during a working visit to Lviv, where he met with cadets of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Ground Forces Academy.
According to Serhii Melnyk, financial allowances will be increased starting next year.
“Starting in March 2025, first- and second-year cadets will receive payments equivalent to the minimum wage in Ukraine, which amounts to UAH 8,000. Considering that wages will increase, the financial allowance will also rise proportionally. Cadets in their third and fourth years of study, who are equated with contract service, will receive over UAH 20,000,” said Serhii Melnyk.
The meeting took place in an open-dialogue format, during which the cadets had the opportunity to discuss with the Deputy Minister key issues concerning the educational process, supplies, and conditions of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“I am impressed by the openness and sincerity of this meeting. The questions, suggestions, and opinions I heard from the cadets today reflect their deep understanding of the importance of serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This format of communication will be continued for cadets of all military higher education institutions, as it is important for us not only to listen but also to take action. Ensuring the best conditions for the education and service of future officers is an investment in our country's success and victory,” emphasized the Deputy Minister.
During his visit, Serhii Melnyk also took the opportunity to assess both the organization of the educational process and the living conditions of the cadets.
“The Hetman Petro Sahaidachny Academy remains one of the leading institutions educating the best officers for the Ukrainian Defence Forces. Establishing proper educational and living conditions for cadets is one of the Ministry of Defence's top priorities,” summarized the Deputy Minister of Defence.
