Deputy Minister of Defence for European Integration Sergiy Boyev and Director for Security and Defence Policy at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Maciej Stadejek discussed EU initiatives to support Ukraine and programs for enhancing European defense capabilities.

During the meeting, the parties also addressed the security situation in Ukraine and the operational situation on the frontlines. The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasized that supplying the military with all the necessary resources is a top priority.

“The war continues, the hostilities continue, and thus, a strong position on the front can contribute to achieving a just peace,” stressed Sergiy Boyev.

The Ukrainian side briefed the EEAS delegation on the pressing needs that remain, considering the changes in international support. These needs include air and missile defense systems, interceptor missiles for these systems, MLRS, aircraft weapons, and munitions of various calibers.

A distinct topic of the talks was developing a European security strategy and its essential components. The development of the defense industry is a key factor in enhancing capabilities—European partners should boost their defense product output.

Ukraine's defense industry stands ready to integrate into the European ecosystem, facilitating the exchange of experience and strengthening mutual capabilities.

The use of revenues accrued from frozen russian assets remains pertinent—Ukraine has defense industry projects that it proposes to finance through these revenues. In particular, Sergiy Boyev emphasized the significance of confiscating russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.

Maciej Stadejek, for his part, provided an update on the current stage of EU initiatives aimed at increasing military aid to Ukraine. Earlier, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas announced the potential for a €20 billion military aid package to address critical needs in strengthening defense capabilities.
