Sergiy Boyev discusses support for Ukraine in 2026 with the state secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Latvia

Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, held a meeting with State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Latvia, Aivars Puriņš, to discuss the development of joint defence industry projects and defence assistance for 2026.
First and foremost, the Ukrainian side briefed the Latvian delegation on the security situation in Ukraine and the current threats posed by the russian federation. Intelligence assessments indicate that the aggressor continues to expand weapons production on its territory, demonstrating an intention to continue the war.
“We recognise that 2026 will be a key year in many respects. We are actively preparing and are grateful to Latvia for its tangible support throughout the period. Partner support is vital to achieving a just peace,” Sergiy Boyev said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Latvian side for the 42 units of Patria armoured personnel carriers previously transferred.
The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Latvia discussed defence requirements for 2026. Sergiy Boyev emphasised the need for additional funding for Ukraine’s defence industry and the full use of its capabilities. The parties also discussed steps to continue developing joint projects.

A representative of Latvia’s Ministry of Defence emphasised the commitment to ensuring the most effective use of funds allocated to support Ukraine and readiness to involve Latvian defence companies in the production of Ukrainian drones.
