Rustem Umerov took part in a panel discussion at the NATO Public Forum in The Hague

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov participated in a panel discussion during the NATO Public Forum, which took place as part of the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to The Hague. 

The discussion focused on consolidating international efforts to strengthen Ukraine in pursuit of a just and lasting peace.

In his speech, the Minister of Defence emphasized the importance of continued military support for Ukraine and the coordination of partner efforts within the Ramstein format. According to him, this remains one of the key factors contributing to Ukraine’s success on the battlefield.

“We seek a lasting ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners, and high-level talks among the leaders of states,” stated Rustem Umerov.

The Defence Minister also emphasized the need to further strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine, develop the defense industry, and enhance the country’s position on the international stage.

“In the future, we aim to become members of the EU and NATO. In the meantime, we are focused on building a strong Ukraine with a strong army,” the Minister added.

During the discussion, Rustem Umerov outlined key areas of cooperation with international partners, including:

  • Strengthening air defence systems to protect civilians and critical infrastructure;
  • Developing the defense industry as a contribution to strengthening the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic community;
  • Advancing international security guarantee mechanisms, notably through the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ initiative.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine expressed gratitude to all nations supporting Ukraine and called on allies to sustain resolute and coordinated assistance.
