Ukraine and Denmark have signed an agreement to establish Ukrainian defense production in Denmark

Україна та Данія підписали угоду про створення українського оборонного виробництва на території Данії

Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov and Denmark’s Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen signed a Letter of Intent, paving the way for the joint production of Ukrainian weapons in Denmark.

The document provides for the establishment of Ukrainian defense enterprises in Denmark and promotes the integration of the defense sectors of both countries.

As part of this initiative, the Danish government is allocating 500 million Danish kroner to accelerate the launch of Ukrainian weapons production. This marks the first steps toward the practical implementation of a long-term security and defense partnership between Ukraine and Denmark. All facilities developed under this project will contribute to strengthening the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

“This document marks the first step in implementing the ‘Build with Ukraine’ initiative, which we began developing during the previous Ramstein meeting,” emphasized Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov.

He noted that this is a strategic step that strengthens the joint defense capabilities of Ukraine and Denmark, reinforces supply chains, opens new opportunities for technology exchange, and promotes integration between the two countries’ defense sectors.

For his part, Denmark’s Minister of Defence underscored the strategic importance of this cooperation: “By enabling Ukrainian defense companies to begin production in Denmark, we are laying the foundation for close collaboration between the defense industries of both our countries. This will also ensure that the Armed Forces of Denmark gain access to cutting-edge technologies and Ukraine’s expertise,” said Troels Lund Poulsen.

The signing took place during the NATO summit in The Hague, where one of the key topics was strengthening the defense industrial capabilities of partner countries.

The agreement also provides for coordination between Denmark’s Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to integrate Ukrainian enterprises into the European defense ecosystem.

Ukraine expressed gratitude to Denmark for its trust, steady support, and commitment to developing a strong partnership between the two nations. The defense ministers emphasized that this partnership strengthens the security of Ukraine, Denmark, and all of Europe—both now and in the future.
