Rustem Umerov discussed support for the Defense Forces and the development of Ukraine's defense industry with a U.S. Congressional delegation.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, held talks in Kyiv with a bipartisan U.S. Congressional delegation led by Congressman Mike Rogers, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink also attended the meeting.
“We discussed our common goal – victory over an enemy with significant territorial, industrial, and human resources. For over 10 years, we have defended our freedom, made possible in part thanks to U.S. support,” emphasized Ukraine’s Minister of Defense.
Rustem Umerov expressed gratitude to American partners for their leadership and substantial assistance to Ukraine. “During the visit, we presented the capabilities of our defense-industrial complex and discussed areas where the U.S. could help strengthen our production,” the minister added.
The Ukrainian side briefed the delegation on the battlefield situation. The Russian adversary, supported in particular by North Korea, continues to bolster its forces and equipment. Ukraine requires additional ammunition, artillery systems, engineering equipment, and air defense systems to strengthen its defenses.
Among the important issues discussed was lifting restrictions on the use of Western weapons on Russian territory, which would give Ukraine an advantage on the front, especially before winter.
The meeting marked another significant step in strengthening the Ukrainian-American partnership and coordination to ensure Ukraine’s security and resilience.
