Representatives of combat brigades completed training to become specialists in the Support Service, assisting service members and their families
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Help Army volunteer group, trained the first group of social support officers for combat brigades and civilians. The project aims to enhance support for service members and their families in resolving issues related to medical, legal, and psychological assistance.
“We are initiating this project to guarantee ongoing support for our military during and after their service. The army is like a family. Therefore, it is our duty to care for one another and do everything possible so that our fellow service members feel assured they can depend not only on themselves but also on the Support Service, which will provide effective assistance. The training involves representatives from ten combat brigades,” said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
The five-day training program encompasses key aspects of legal support, psychological care, rehabilitation after wounds, and specifics of providing support to families of fallen and missing service members.
Those involved in the training are service members appointed to relevant positions or candidates for such appointments.
“The Support Services offer focused assistance to our defenders, including helping them restore documents, establish legal status, and provide expert guidance on the continuation of their military service,” stated Oleksandr Kutkov, Head of the Central Department of Civil-Military Cooperation at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Olena Sherzhukova, a representative of the volunteer group, significant attention was devoted to supporting the wounded in rear and frontline hospitals, as well as assisting the families of service members.
