Recovers the Kozak, Novator and Gyurza: Ministry of Defence codifies the INGUAR-4 recovery vehicle
A versatile platform, fast mission performance and outstanding off-road capability. The Ministry of Defence has codified and authorized for operational use the Ukrainian INGUAR-4 armored recovery vehicle.
It is designed to quickly recover most Ukrainian-made and foreign-made special armored vehicles from the battlefield.
A Ukrainian company that specialises in building armored vehicles for a wide range of military tasks developed the INGUAR-4 armored repair and recovery vehicle (ARRV).
The vehicle uses the same assemblies and components as the INGUAR-3 special armored vehicle, which has been highly effective at carrying out military missions for several years now. The INGUAR-4, however, has a reinforced frame, an additional drive axle, a powerful winch and a hydraulic system for lifting and recovery.
What advantages the INGUAR-4 wheeled recovery vehicle offers
During trials, the INGUAR-4 confirmed its stated tactical and technical specifications and its strong capability to recover armored vehicles in difficult combat conditions.
The vehicle has a number of advantages over the tracked armored repair and recovery vehicles widely used in the Defence Forces:
- faster recovery and higher speed on public roads;
- greater range;
- no need for a tank transporter to move it;
- lower operating costs;
- simpler and cheaper maintenance;
- a lower acoustic signature;
- better survivability on the battlefield.
The crew also tires less during long periods of operation.
A unique 6×6 drive layout and a versatile recovery system
The INGUAR-4 can recover the following special armored vehicles from the battlefield:
- Inguar-3;
- Roshel Senator;
- Kirpi;
- Kozak;
- Novator;
- Gyurza;
- International MaxxPro;
- other vehicles weighing up to 30 tonnes.
The INGUAR-4 has a 6×6 drive layout designed specifically for demanding military missions.
Thanks to its unique design, a powerful engine and a series of innovative engineering solutions, the INGUAR-4 reaches a higher top speed and is more mobile than other wheeled recovery vehicles with an 8×8 layout: the Ukrainian BREM-3BR and BREM-4M and the Canadian LAV Super Bison.
Enhanced crew protection on the INGUAR-4
The INGUAR-4 has multi-layer armor made of Armox steel and aluminium elements. Its protection level meets STANAG 4569 Level 3.
The vehicle is fitted with blast-protected seats, an automatic fire-suppression system, heated armored glass and non-flammable interior materials. Almost 60% of the chassis and suspension components of the INGUAR-4 are made in Ukraine.
The first INGUAR-4 vehicles are already carrying out missions in the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
