Upgraded UAT.GYURZA-02 armored vehicle with AI capabilities codified by the Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence has codified an upgraded version of the popular Ukrainian UAT.GYURZA-02 special armored vehicle, featuring 360-degree crew protection, an enhanced suspension system, increased payload capacity, and AI-enabled software.
The vehicle was upgraded in response to feedback from service members and the demanding realities of war. The vehicle’s designers reinforced the independent suspension system, replaced selected components, and fitted the vehicle with tires with improved performance characteristics.
These upgrades improved the vehicle’s mobility and survivability in challenging combat environments.
The vehicle’s armored hull is fitted with a full-spall liner that enhances protection for the crew, troops, and onboard equipment against fragmentation effects.
Technical specifications of the upgraded UAT.GYURZA-02
The upgraded UAT.GYURZA-02 has a gross vehicle weight of just over 18 tonnes. The vehicle’s payload capacity has increased to 2.5 tonnes, ground clearance to 380 mm, and cruising range to 1,200 km. Maximum speed: 110 km/h. Mine protection meets STANAG 4569 Levels 3A and 3B, providing protection for the crew against blasts equivalent to 8 kg of TNT.
The upgraded UAT.GYURZA-02 is available in two configurations: with or without a rotating weapon turret.
Designed for crew comfort and safety
The UAT.GYURZA-02 special armored vehicle is fitted with ventilation, heating, air-conditioning, an autonomous fuel-powered heater, and other systems and equipment. The vehicle is also equipped with fire suppression systems for the engine compartment and troop compartment, a night vision suite, and a surveillance television system comprising four video cameras and observation monitors.
It can also be equipped with AI-powered software for enhanced monitoring of the surrounding environment.
In 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received 25% more specialized armored vehicles than in 2024. Most of these vehicles are based on the MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) design, featuring enhanced protection against mines and ambushes. Such vehicles feature a V-shaped hull designed to dissipate blast energy, specialized shock-absorbing seats, and a monolithic armored capsule with external blast-absorbing components, including the wheels, chassis, and engine.
