Psychological Training: Introducing a new course in Army+
The Army+ app has rolled out its fifth training course, Psychological Training. The course is delivered by military psychologist Yuliia Pavlova.
The course is structured in modules, each featuring video lessons. Following each module, users complete a short control test and, at the course’s conclusion, a final exam to validate their understanding and earn a certificate. What sets this course apart from the earlier ones is the increased volume of additional materials, such as books, themed videos, and useful links to psychological assistance resources.
“20,000 service members have started their training in Army+, with 5,000 having already successfully completed at least one course. For example, in our most recent course focused on battlefield communication, 1,800 military personnel began training. Moreover, this is just two weeks since its launch. The training should be convenient, accessible, modern, and provide our warriors with a significant advantage on the battlefield,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.
During the psychological training course, Yuliia Pavlova elaborates on the following aspects:
How can you adjust to military service faster?
What steps are effective in shaping a warrior's combat mindset and psychology?
What tools can we use to support our comrades and ourselves?
How to stay psychologically resilient and take care of your mental health?
How do you recover between combat operations?
What is PTSD and does it have an alternative?
How to return to civilian life?
“The new psychological training course for service members provides practical advice, including self-regulation techniques, and useful tools to help adapt to military service and maintain psychological resilience during combat missions. I would like to emphasize the importance of this course for commanders, unit leaders, and instructors, as it offers insights into the moral and psychological condition of their personnel and strategies to reinforce it. After all, the condition of your subordinates directly influences the efficiency and success of task execution,” emphasized Colonel Yevhen Mezhevikin, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Doctrines and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The launch of the new course, along with the entire Army+ training program, was made possible with the support of the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO).
To recap, four courses have previously been launched in the app:
Overall Training, delivered by Serhii Lipko, an aerial reconnaissance specialist, as well as a special correspondent and host at Army TV.
Routine Under Field Conditions, delivered by Olena Ryzh, a combat medic and assaulter.
UAV Fundamentals: An Introduction to Unmanned Systems, delivered by Yurii Cherkashyn, Head of the Experience Scaling Team.
Fundamentals of Battlefield Communication, delivered by Yevhen Vorobey, commander of the communications platoon of the 241st Separate Territorial Defence Brigade.
