Partners will approve multi-year plans to assist Ukraine through Capability Coalitions
In December, Ukraine anticipates approving plans to secure multi-year assistance from countries participating in the Capability Coalitions.
Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European Integration, Sergiy Boyev, made this statement during a meeting of the leading countries in the Capability Coalitions.
The primary focus of the gathering was the current progress in developing roadmaps for the Capacity Coalitions and the prospects for their implementation. Each of the eight Coalitions is preparing documents that outline the immediate and medium-term international military assistance needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
Sergiy Boyev states that the Defense Forces' foremost priority is equipping Ukrainian brigades with modern Western military gear and providing high-quality training for their personnel. The Deputy Minister also underscored that the Coalitions' assistance is aimed at ensuring the successful implementation of the Victory Plan.
“Developing these roadmaps will help partners better comprehend the needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces and their capacity to address these needs. The coalition support framework enables flexibility in resource allocation and planning. In December, we expect to finalize our joint plans to secure assistance for the next several years,” said Sergiy Boyev.
During the gathering, representatives from the leading nations in the Capability Coalitions discussed the current progress of each Coalition, including the immediate steps planned to expedite assistance and identify blockers in the areas that require reinforcement from other participants. The leaders announced the joining of new member countries, including both those that have already signed Letters of Intent and those currently in the process of signing.
The meeting of the leading countries in the Capability Coalitions was attended by representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Luxembourg. The partners remain dedicated to advancing the implementation of the previously announced assistance.
Established nearly a year ago, the Capability Coalitions are expected to be the primary tool for forming military assistance packages from partner nations. A coalition framework for cooperation facilitates an immediate response to the Defence Forces' urgent needs while supporting ongoing capacity development.
