Denys Shmyhal discussed the needs of the Defence Forces and the training of military personnel with the Chair of the EU Military Committee

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with the Chair of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC), General Seán Clancy. 

The parties discussed the current security situation, operational challenges, and prospects for enhanced defence cooperation with the European Union.

Ukrainian intelligence representatives provided their partners with comprehensive information on the frontline situation, the plans of the russian occupation forces, and the state of russia’s defence industry. 

The delegations also reviewed further steps to enhance Ukraine’s defence capabilities on the battlefield.

“Particular focus was placed on the EUMAM training mission. Together with General Clancy, we assessed its outcomes. The training of Ukrainian military personnel has proven highly effective. Opportunities for further expansion of the mission were discussed. We will continue to develop the training programs for personnel,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The parties also addressed the priority needs of Ukraine’s Defence Forces:

  • scaling up the production of interceptors;
  • FPV drones;
  • long-range strike UAVs.

As noted by Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine deeply values the European Union’s practical support in enhancing defence capabilities. 

“Through our joint efforts, we are enhancing the security of Ukraine as well as the entire European continent. I sincerely thank General Clancy and all EU partners for their leadership, solidarity, and strategic vision. We continue to work together towards a shared victory and lasting peace in Europe,” emphasised the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
