Oleksandr Balanutsa at the Warsaw Security Forum: A security architecture without Ukraine is not feasible if the world desires peace

Deputy Minister of Defence Oleksandr Balanutsa underscored that the global security architecture cannot be established without Ukraine's involvement.  He made the statement during a ministerial panel at the Warsaw Security Forum.

The primary topics of the forum in Poland centered around Ukraine, particularly addressing the vision of victory in the war, the need for investment in the Ukrainian defense industry, and the practical measures of partners to support Ukraine. The ministerial panel on support for Ukraine was attended by former Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren, Swedish Defence Minister Paul Johnson, French Minister Delegate for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad, and Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa.

“Ukraine continues to fight and build its own capabilities to counter russian aggression. If the world wants peace, it must build a security architecture that deters further acts of russian aggression. This cannot be done without Ukraine, as our combat experience is already well above that of NATO countries,” Balanutsa said.

It was stressed by the Swedish Defense Minister that there are significant lessons NATO, including Sweden, can take away from Ukraine, especially in terms of combat strategies, the use of technologies on the battlefield, etc. He concurred on the necessity of Ukraine joining NATO to bolster European security.

The panel participants emphasized Ukraine's role in defending Europe's security and strengthening the region's defense capabilities. Investing in the Ukrainian defense sector equates to investing in a secure future.

At the end of the discussion, the partners brought up the matter of forming a coalition to safeguard Ukraine's skies from enemy missiles and drones.
