New planes for future aces: Ukraine received a batch of ALTO NG aircraft

Ukrainian military pilots will hone their skills on ten new ALTO NG training aircraft, which Ukraine received thanks to the Air Force Capability Coalition, the Czech government and the Dárek pro Putina Charitable Foundation.
The availability of these light aircraft will enable the establishment of a full-fledged training base within the country, drastically reduce the cost per flight hour compared to combat aircraft, and accelerate the transition of Ukrainian pilots to advanced Western aviation platforms in line with NATO standards.
What Ukrainian military pilots will be taught on the new aircraft
ALTO NG aircraft are equipped with modern systems that allow future pilots to practice basic and critically important military skills effectively:
- Basic and advanced flying: mastering aircraft handling in a variety of conditions.
- Navigation, take-off, and approach procedures in accordance with NATO standards.
- Transition training: practising complex procedures required for the subsequent transition to modern Western fighter aircraft.
This approach to training significantly increases our pilots' combat readiness and helps make the protection of the skies more effective and modern.
Czech support and training self-sufficiency
The transfer of aviation equipment took place within the framework of international solidarity: five aircraft were received with the direct support of the Czech government, and five more were received as assistance from Czech citizens through the well-known charitable foundation Dárek pro Putina.
The main advantage of this step is that it builds our own modern infrastructure for training aircrew. The organisation of the process within the country significantly reduces dependence on foreign training programmes, saves state resources, and ensures self-sufficiency in training new Air Force personnel.
The Ministry of Defence is grateful to the Air Force Capability Coalition, the Czech government, the Dárek pro Putina Charitable Foundation, and Czech citizens for their sustained support and for helping to strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s skies.
