New deferment option in Reserve+: for parents raising a child under 18 on their own

The Ministry of Defence has expanded the list of deferments available in the Reserve+ app.

Parents who are raising a child under 18 on their own can now obtain a deferment online if the other parent has died or lost parental rights.

How to obtain a deferment online:

  1. Submit a request through the Reserve+ application.
  2. The system will verify the eligibility criteria in state registers.
  3. If confirmed, the deferment is granted automatically, and the information appears in the electronic military document.

The process is fully automated, usually takes from a few minutes to several hours, and does not require collecting documents or visiting enlistment offices. Reserve+ ensures transparent decision-making and eliminates the risk of manipulation.

To receive this type of deferment, the State Civil Status Registration Office must contain up-to-date information about the child, as well as about the death or deprivation of parental rights of the other parent. If this information is not available, it is necessary to apply to any State Civil Status Registration Office with the relevant documents.

Thus, 10 types of online deferments are now available in Reserve+

for the following categories:

  • individuals with disabilities;
  • those deemed temporarily unfit for military service;
  • parents of a child with a disability under 18 years of age;
  • parents of an adult child with a disability of Group I or II;
  • individuals whose spouse has a disability of Group I or II;
  • women and men whose spouses serve in the military and who have a child;
  • parents of three or more children born to the same marriage;
  • single parents raising a child under the age of 18;
  • students and postgraduates;
  • employees of higher and vocational education institutions.
