Since the beginning of 2024, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, has returned 30 land plots totaling 3,487 hectares, and three real estate properties, covering an area of 1,668 square meters, back to state ownership. These plots were previously registered illegally by third parties.

The violation was uncovered through the systematic monitoring of state registers. To reclaim legal ownership of the property, the Ministry of Defence's Main Directorate for Defence Land and Funds submitted more than 15 grievances to the Ministry of Justice As a result of their consideration, the illegal registration actions were annulled, and the land plots were returned to the disposal of the Defense Ministry.

“Protection of state property is one of our priorities. We are taking all necessary measures to prevent the illegal alienation of defense land and other military property belonging to Ukraine. In collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, we are actively committed to ensuring the restoration of these assets to state ownership,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.

Ivan Korodiuk, Head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice’s Office for Counteracting Raiding, emphasized the importance of reclaiming state assets, particularly defense lands, as vital to protecting Ukraine's national interests amid russia's ongoing armed aggression. 

“We devote substantial effort to reviewing grievances related to registration actions that may lead to the unlawful alienation of state assets. The Ministry of Justice, working closely with the Ministry of Defence, is actively leveraging all legal means to reclaim state assets. We are vigilant in defending the interests of the Ukrainian people and will not allow anyone to seize state resources in violation of the law,” emphasized Ivan Korodiuk.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defence, in partnership with the StateGeoCadastre, reclaimed the state's ownership of 69 land plots that had been illegally withdrawn from the state fund. Thirty of them were reclaimed thanks to cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

To safeguard state interests and prevent the unlawful removal of property from state ownership, the Ministry of Defence maintains active collaboration with the Ministry of Justice.
