Nataliia Kalmykova: Ukraine is committed to implementing NATO's military medicine standards

This statement was made by the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine during her visit to the United States, where she had a working meeting with the United States Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs Dr. Lester Martinez-Lopez, retired Major General and the principal healthcare advisor to the Secretary of Defense.

The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine discussed with the United States Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs the cooperation between the United States and Ukraine in military medicine, the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies, supplying military and technical aid, and training Ukrainian specialists.

Furthermore, Nataliia Kalmykova talked about the advancements being currently made in military medicine. “We remain committed in our adherence to NATO standards: the scope of the pre-medical assistance for different levels of military training was approved, and the contents of first aid kits and backpacks for combat medics were specified. Efforts are being made to merge military and civilian healthcare into a cohesive system within an integrated healthcare environment. The number of Ukrainian doctors being trained and educated in line with up-to-date standards is on the rise. All of these efforts contribute to safeguarding the health and survival of our military personnel at the front lines,” emphasized Nataliia Kalmykova.
