The Government has adopted amendments that eliminate the need for service members to provide information from the State Register of Real Property Rights when seeking compensation for subrenting accommodation.

Furthermore, certificates of residence registration are no longer needed when applying for such compensation. Besides that, the duty of obtaining certain documents has been transferred from military personnel to their commanders.

The amendments also regulate the provision of financial reimbursement in case of destruction or damage to service members’ homes due to hostilities.

“We continue to simplify bureaucratic procedures. We have decreased the number of required certificates and safeguarded the rights of service members, especially those whose homes were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable due to the armed aggression of the russian federation. Applying for financial compensation for subrenting accommodation will now be simpler, and more defenders will be able to use this right,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Nataliia Kalmykova.

The relevant regulations are established by the Resolution “On Amendments to the Procedure of Monetary Compensation to the Service Members of the Armed Forces, National Guard, Security Service, Intelligence Service, State Border Guard Service, State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection, State Special Transport Service, State Guard Service, and to the Members of the Armed Forces Seconded to the Ministry of Education and Science, State Space Agency, for Subrenting (Renting) Residential Premises.” The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine endorsed this Resolution during their meeting.

The verification of real estate ownership will be conducted by the military unit commander or the head of the department, entity, institution, or agency responsible for payment decisions.

At the same time, safeguards are in place to prevent the misuse of state interests. The process ensures that money paid out due to misleading military leadership is reimbursed to the budget. When this happens, individuals are granted a period to refund the money on their own accord, and if there is a dispute, it will be resolved in a court of law.
