Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, appointed Valeriya Ionan as an adviser on international projects.

Valeriya Ionan is a global partnerships strategist and innovator with more than six years of experience in the Ministry of Digital Transformation, where she led key national projects and initiatives in regional digitalization and European integration. She coordinated international communications with leading global technology companies, including Google, Cisco, Microsoft, Palantir, and IBM, along with international organizations and governments around the world. She also contributed to coordinating the Tallinn Mechanism, an international initiative that has already allocated €241.7 million to strengthen Ukraine’s cyber resilience. Valeriya Ionan has been the driving force behind numerous global initiatives and facilitated the launch of the world’s second GovTech Center in cooperation with the World Economic Forum in Kyiv.

“The President has personally undertaken historic efforts to mobilize international resources. Our responsibility is to ensure their most effective use. Accordingly, our current focus is on systematic international support for the nation’s defense projects. We must reinforce existing partnerships and establish new ones to secure victory over the enemy. We place great value on cooperation with international partners and will continue to deepen it,” Mykhailo Fedorov stated.

According to him, Valeriya Ionan continues to work at the international level with governments and companies on the design and scaling of technology-driven public-private partnerships. Her experience will reinforce our work.

“This year, we have set the goal of increasing the volume of international military assistance and building genuine win-win partnerships focused on results. Integrating partners — including their scientific and research potential — will make our defense system stronger while simultaneously enhancing their defense capabilities,” the Minister of Defence noted.

He added that work has already commenced in several areas, including an audit of existing international projects and the development of new strategic partnerships, specifically long-term alliances with countries, funds, and technology leaders.

“We share a common vision for cooperation with partners. Our efforts are focused on strengthening our global standing and transforming international support into tangible results for the country,” Mykhailo Fedorov concluded.
