Multipurpose vehicle: Ministry of Defence codifies the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP armored pickup
The Ministry of Defence has codified the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP armored pickup and authorized its supply to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The vehicle is designed to carry personnel and cargo and to perform a wide range of tasks in the combat zone.
A Ukrainian armored pickup for the Defence Forces
The UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP is built by a Ukrainian defence company with several years of experience producing armored vehicles for the Defence Forces.
Since 2022, the company's large, medium and small armored vehicles have been carrying out military missions in defence of Ukraine's sovereignty.
The UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP was designed around what troops asked for: armored vehicles that are as versatile, reliable and durable as possible, and simple to operate.
The pickup confirmed the specifications claimed for it, along with a broad range of capabilities. It now joins the existing fleet of Ukrainian-made armored vehicles.
Features and armor protection of the new pickup, built on the Dodge RAM 5500
The UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP is built on the Dodge RAM 5500, one of the most reliable and capable multipurpose civilian pickups.
The Ukrainian-made armored vehicle has a number of distinctive features:
- Level 2 ballistic and fragmentation protection of the hull under STANAG 4569;
- Level 3a and 3b mine protection under STANAG 4569;
- a high-strength body;
- reliable, hard-wearing components;
- familiar, civilian-style controls;
- readily available spare parts and consumables;
- strong performance specifications;
- extensive logistics capability.
The UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP is also easy to maintain.
UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP specifications
The armored pickup weighs just over 8 tons, can carry five service members in full kit along with almost 2 tons of cargo, and reaches speeds of up to 110 km/h.
Its fuel range is 800 km on dirt roads and up to 1,000 km on hard-surfaced roads.
Its design allows the pickup to handle rough off-road terrain, dense undergrowth, marshland and bogs.
On-board protection and observation systems of the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP
The UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP is fitted with the innovative protection and observation systems needed to carry out military missions:
- an external observation system;
- a video observation system;
- an electronic protection system;
- a fire suppression system for the cab and the engine compartment;
- ventilation and air conditioning;
- a powerful winch.
If required, the vehicle can also be fitted with a semi-automatic tire inflation system, an anti-spall liner, a filtration and ventilation unit and other equipment.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defence codified and authorized for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine the Ukrainian Humvee, the Desna armored vehicle. It has a low profile, moderate weight and exceptional off-road capability.
