MoD’s DOT has procured NATO-standard tactical hearing protectors for the first time
The State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT) of the Ministry of Defence has successfully procured tactical hearing protectors, the technical requirements for which were approved earlier this year and updated in line with NATO standards.
In February 2025, the Main Directorate for the Development of Logistics Support (MDDLS) approved technical specifications for tactical hearing protectors, establishing strengthened requirements for protection, functionality, and reliability. In July, DOT announced the first tenders, which resulted in contracts for the supply of 40,000 hearing protectors worth a total of UAH 635.3 million.
“This procurement is an important step toward aligning our supply system with NATO standards. This is not merely a new item in the supply catalogue – it ensures the safety, interoperability, and reliability of the equipment that service members will receive this autumn,” said Mykyta Chichkan, Director of the DOT Gear and Clothing Programme.
These hearing protectors, made in a European Union member state, meet NATO standards. Specifically, they feature a noise reduction level starting from 29 decibels (dB) and are designed for use in various weather conditions, including snow, rain, and extreme temperatures. Another advantage is their enhanced electromagnetic resistance, which ensures more reliable signal transmission.
The first batches are expected to arrive this autumn at the Joint Logistics Centers of the Logistics Forces Command and later be delivered directly to military units.
