Ministry of Defense codified domestically produced interactive shooting range

The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved for use within the Defense Forces a domestically developed training system called UNITS. This interactive training system, created by local engineers, is designed for individual and group firearms training.

During sessions on the virtual shooting range, it’s possible to use models and modules of dozens of types of firearms, grenade launchers, anti-tank guided missiles, and more. The system is mobile and can be quickly deployed at a chosen location if needed.

While simulating a firing exercise, users can select different terrain types: urban areas, forests, fields, and so forth. The system also models target setups, weather conditions, and time of day.

Using UNITS, trainees can practice basic shooter skills—correct stance, breathing, weapon handling, aiming, and smooth trigger pull—as well as a wide range of situational shooting exercises.

We remind manufacturers and developers of military equipment that they can direct additional questions regarding the codification process to the Main Directorate for Armament and Military Equipment Life Cycle Support at the email: [email protected].
