Ministry of Defence has codified more than 1,500 Ukrainian-made weapon and equipment models since the start of the year

Since the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and authorized 1,678 new models of weapons and military equipment (WME) for operational use in the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
Of these, 1,530, or 91.2%, were produced by Ukrainian companies.
New weapon models can give the military additional capabilities to carry out combat missions, including engaging the enemy, conducting reconnaissance, protecting personnel, and supporting logistics.
Codification of Ukrainian-made weapons and military equipment has accelerated significantly since the start of the full-scale invasion. For comparison, 60 Ukrainian-made models were authorized for operational use in 2022, compared with 1,530 in 2026 – 25.5 times as many.
Number of codified WME models by year:
- 2022: 110 models in total, including 60 (54.5%) Ukrainian-made;
- 2023: 480 in total, including 295 (61.5%) Ukrainian-made;
- 2024: 1,409 in total, including 1,051 (74.6%) Ukrainian-made;
- 2025: 2,050 in total, including 1,427 (69.6%) Ukrainian-made;
- 2026, as of September 25: 1,678 in total, including 1,530 (91.2%) Ukrainian-made.
The share of Ukrainian-made WME models for military needs has also increased significantly. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, this figure has increased by 67.3%.
Importantly, in wartime, WME manufacturers are working to adapt their products to changes on the battlefield and can receive feedback from the military. This makes it possible to field solutions that meet the current needs of the Defence Forces more quickly.
As previously reported, as of September 22, the Ministry of Defence had codified 650 unmanned aerial systems (UAS) since the start of the year. Most of them are made in Ukraine.
