Men aged 18 to 60 abroad can now obtain passports without the requirement of possessing a military registration document and undergoing a military medical examination

Henceforth, male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 who are abroad will no longer be required to present a military registration document when applying for a passport. Furthermore, they are not required to undergo a medical examination by Military Medical Commission.

These amendments have been integrated into the Procedure for Implementing the Experimental Project on Automated Verification and Validation of Data Concerning Conscripts, Individuals Liable for Military Service, and Reservists, as endorsed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The document was drafted by the Ministry of Defence in accordance with a Cabinet of Ministers’ decision.

Under the updated regulations, employees of a separate subdivision of the state enterprise under the jurisdiction of the State Migration Service, located outside Ukraine, will verify the applicant’s military registration status through the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Individuals Liable for Military Service, and Reservists. If the applicant’s data is not found in the Register, it will be automatically entered, and the Register will generate an electronic military registration document.

Previously, this simplified procedure applied only to men aged 18 to 25 who applied for a Ukrainian citizen’s passport or a passport for international travel while abroad. This procedure has now been extended to all men up to the age of 60.

The amendments to the Procedure for Implementing the Experimental Project on Automated Verification and Validation of Data aim to streamline the process and regulate the issuance of passports. The military registration data exchange will enable citizens to obtain the necessary documents without the requirement of a military medical examination.
