Kateryna Chernohorenko: The IT Coalition has accumulated EUR 482 million in 2024
In the current year, partner nations within the IT Coalition have raised EUR 482 million in aid for Ukraine. It was announced at a meeting of the initiative participants in Luxembourg.
At the meeting, participants discussed the outcomes of the initial equipment deliveries from the Coalition and outlined the priority needs for the following year. They also welcomed a new partner country, Ireland. Thus, the Coalition now includes 17 countries.
In addition, Estonia announced a new contribution of EUR 5 million for 2025. The IT Coalition also saw contributions from Germany, Finland, Sweden, and Canada, the latter of which announced its intention to join in October.
We are delighted to see the IT Coalition expanding, with all partners recognizing the importance of digitalization. Thanks to our partners' support, we can create new products, improve existing ones, and accelerate our journey towards becoming the digital army of the future. On our side, we are working to ensure that the aid arrives as quickly as possible,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.
Most funds are bilateral contributions for secure communications equipment and SAP licenses. Of the total amount, EUR 71 million is allocated as financial contributions for joint equipment and software purchases within the Coalition.
Over the course of the year, equipment and software valued at EUR 102.7 million were transferred to meet the needs of tactical control centers, data centers, innovation and cybersecurity units, as well as for licenses to implement the SAP system.
“Ukraine requires our support in information and communication technologies to enhance its defense strategies and combat capabilities. Therefore, we continue to work together to reinforce them. This is made possible thanks to the leadership of the partner countries of the IT Coalition and the long-standing, fruitful collaboration with Ukraine's Defence Forces,” said Tuuli Duneton, Undersecretary for Defence Policy at the Estonian Ministry of Defence.
The IT Coalition is one of the Capability Coalitions within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format). It focuses on supporting the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces in IT, communications, and cybersecurity. Currently, the Coalition includes 17 countries: Estonia and Luxembourg are the leading countries, followed by Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine.
